2008-2009 Freshman/Sophomore Undergraduate Scholarship Program
Application period has ended.
Each year NC Space Grant awards $1,000 scholarships to entering freshman and sophomore students attending its member institutions who plan on pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Applications are evaluated based upon the students academic achievement, letter of recommendation, and exhibited leadership qualities.
Eligibility Requirements
During the period of the award (2008-2009 academic year) the applicant must be:
- A full-time undergraduate student pursuing a degree in a science, engineering, technology, or mathematics
discipline of interest to NASA at a NC Space Grant member university.
- Classified as a freshman or sophomore.
- A United States citizen.
Applicants are only eligible to receive a one Freshman/Sophomore Scholarship during their academic studies.
Application – Online application system opens November 5, 2007
Interested students must complete an online application. The application includes instructions on submitting the following support documents:
- Unofficial transcripts (submitted as a PDF file) - from all universities and/or colleges the applicant has attended; a high school transcript is required for students applying for the Freshman/Sophomore Undergraduate Scholarship (official transcripts will be required if a student is selected to receive an award).
- Letter of recommendation - Once the application is submitted, the recommender will be contacted, via email, with instructions on how to submit the on-line letter of recommendation.
Due Dates:
- On-line Application - Due: February 15, 2008
- Letter of Recommendation - Due: February 20, 2008
